ASL
Sign language interpreting makes communication possible between people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing and people who are not Deaf. Interpreting is a complex process that requires a high degree of linguistic, cognitive and technical skills in both English and American Sign Language (ASL). Sign language interpreting, like spoken language interpreting, involves more than simply replacing a word of spoken English with a signed representation of that English word. ASL has its own grammatical rules, sentence structure and cultural nuances. Interpreters must thoroughly understand the subject matter in which they work so that they are able to convert information from one language, known as the source language, into another, known as the target language.
Equal Access Services has a great network of qualified interpreters that can work remotely for your interpreting needs. Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is an effective way to provide interpreting to ensure you are both legally compliant and your consumer is able to access information effectively. VRI is effective for meetings, educational settings, doctors appointments, and more. VRI is often referrred to as Facetime between the interpreter and the client. VRI eliminates costs associated with travel, mileage, and hourly minimums as well as gives you flexible scheduling.
Utilizing a qualified platform interpreter ensures that people who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing can have equal access to the information being presented and participate equally in various events. Platform interpreters will be engaged during presentations, breakout sessions, and social activities during the event. Our trained and professional interpreters have the unique skill-set required to perform on a stage, including signing in a larger space, exaggerating facial expressions so they are clear, and accurately communicating important and specific information that is being shared in real-time.
Performance interpreters are utilized at concerts, music festivals, and performing arts theater. Our interpreters are skilled at not just translating the lyrics or words of the performance, but also expressing the emotion and meaning so that the Deaf client can truly be immersed in the show. Our performance interpreters, being based out of Las Vegas, have a plethora of experience working with every type of show or performance imaginable.
Dave and his team at Equal Access Services have been great to work with. They provide excellent customer service and professionalism in all that they do; whether they are providing CART, TypeWell, or Interpreters for students, staff, and events, we know it is always performed to the highest standard.
